Figures in the pop world try to find a way to bring a gap between their genre and their religion. Some of their religious top singles bring about a number of questions while others are praised. Kanye West delivered three visuals for his most talked about single “Jesus Walks”. The single brought West a number amount of positive and negative attention. Madonna‘s “Like A Prayer” got the sing a lot of backlash with the video showing multiple crosses being burned to dust.
Many pop songs in reference to Christianity question the faith and foundation of its followers. While others such as Stevie Wonder‘s “Have A Talk With God” and India Arie‘s “God Is Real” allows those that don’t listen to Gospel music to embrace their love of God in a different atmosphere.
Some of these religious driven songs have been remade, used in popular films, and have been featured on Gospel collection albums.
