The N-word will always be a hot button topic to talk about–especially when not everyone knows its history. Dr. Neal Lester visited “NewsOne Now” to give a lesson on the word and its origins.

“It was based on what the skin looked like,” said Lester. “So you don’t have to look like anything to be lynched. You don’t have to look like anything to be castrated. You don’t have to act like anything to be shot. Look at Google alerts now with that word… It’s all about disparagement, intimidation, and class.”
