Wikipedia went black Wednesday in the name of protest. The online encyclopedia’s English language website is down until midnight.

The 24-hour blackout is to protest anti-piracy legislation under consideration in Congress. The Stop Online Piracy Act and the Protect Intellectual Property Act are designed to crack down on sales of pirated U.S. products overseas.

Supporters including the film and music industry say the legislation is needed to protect intellectual property and jobs. Read more on this story here.

An elderly woman could lose her house after receiving a $16 thousand dollar water bill.

Bills indicate an average daily consumption of more than 5-thousand gallons.  At that rate, it would take only three days to fill an average size pool.

The city is stepping in to stop the leak and an investigation has been launched.

Residents of Baltimore and surrounding areas are invited to take part in the 12th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade which celebrates the life of one of America’s most influential civil rights, political, and social icons.
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade held on Monday, January 16, 2012 at noon, is becoming an event to honor not only Dr. King, but to pay homage to others continuing his legacy. The event steps off at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Eutaw Street, proceeds south on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and disbands at Baltimore Street.

Police search students at a Southwest Baltimore Middle School after a student brings a taser to school.

Middle schoolers at Beechfield Elementary and Middle school were met with metal wand detectors and police Wednesday morning after a student brought a taser to school earlier this week.

But many parents say they should have found about it from the school and not their kids or FOX45. View the video here.

Baltimore, you have done it again. Your outpouring of support was awesome. Thanks to you we were able to donate truckloads of toys to the U.S. Marines “Toys For Tots” campaign. We were out and about in the community at Mondawmin Mall as well as the WalMarts in Owings Mills, Arundel Mills and Catonsville.  Thank you for making a child’s holiday season memorable.

The following streets were closed: Charles Street from Fayette to Monument streets, Lexington Street from Charles to Frederick streets, Gay Street from Fayette Street to the Fallsway, and Saratoga Street from Gay to Holliday streets. They are expected to reopen once the parade ends.

Parking is restricted from 6 a.m. to noon Friday in these locations: Charles Street from Lexington to Madison streets, Lexington Street form Charles to Saratoga streets, Gay Street from Fayette Street to the Fallsway, and Saratoga Street from Gay to Holliday streets.

An accident was slowing traffic on I-95 southbound, near Route 198.

The Maryland Transit Administration is warning patrons that there is no MARC service and no commuter bus service Friday in the Baltimore area, due to the Veteran’s Day holiday. The subway, light rail lines, mobility vans and local buses are operating on their regular schedules.
