14-year-old Arica Leonard is being held as an adult after being charged with attempted first-degree murder in a Southwest Baltimore stabbing. The teen is currently being held at the women’s detention center. Bail has been set for $250,000 bail.

According to reports, the victim told police she attempted to break up a fight between a male and a female when Leonard, who she had an ongoing argument with, attacked her and stabbed her in the back of the head. An officer on foot patrol found the victim lying on the ground bleeding from her head and called for medics. The victim required five staples and four stitches.

Leonard’s mother Loretta Lavine had this to say about the her daughter’s arrest:

“I’m devastated. She’s my youngest child. I’m 51, and I’m trying to raise my baby doll, and this city isn’t as pretty as these [elected] officials say it is.”

The weapon was never recovered from the scene. Numerous onlookers witnessed the attack in the 1300 block of W. Lombard St.
