So let me be honest. I sometimes feel overwhelmed. Yup. There I said it. And I know that I’m not alone. And I want you to know that you are not alone. Many of us have so much on our plates, so much we have to do and get done – I get it.

The other night I was driving home from singing and in that moment I felt so overwhelmed. But I didn’t want that feeling and have it overtake me like it has tried so many times in the past. I started singing a song that my friend Stephen Hurd recorded based on Psalm 61:2, “Lead Me to the Rock”. And immediately, there was a peace that came over me. It wasn’t that anything had changed, but my perspective changed. I knew that God wasn’t trying to swallow me up, but everything that he brings to me to handle, I can handle. So then my spirit was calmed. And I was encouraged to keep going.

So I encourage you to find peace in the word. Find peace in a song. Find peace in Jesus. When you’re feeling run down, go to the rock. When you’re sad, go to the rock. Jesus is that rock. And he promised to never leave nor to forsake us. Rest in that promise. And rest in the rock.

From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. – Psalm 61:2
