R&B soul singer, gospel singer, writer and actress celebrates a birthday today. She was a member of two groups during including Patti LaBelle and The Bluebelles and LaBelle. The 13 time Grammy nominated singer has won two Grammy’s and been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. The Philadelphia native also won several NAACP Image, American Music and Soul Train Music Awards.
LaBelle released her biography, Don’t Block the Blessings, and it remained on the New York Times best-seller list for several weeks. In 2006, she released the gospel album, The Gospel According To Patti LaBelle, that debuted at #1 on the Gospel chart.
