Joanne Silverstein said, “the baby was sitting on the floor crying, so I grabbed the baby and I came out to give it to somebody to hold, and I said, ‘Go call 911.'” The neighbor, in the 5200 block of Patrick Henry Drive in Brooklyn Park, rescued the child and the father was later found in the basement of the home by firefighters.
The child was taken to the hospital as a precaution while the father is being treated for burn injuries. The cause of the blaze is under investigation and the damage of the home is estimated as about $95,000.
