When dealing with God sometimes we often put Him in a box. We want all the blessings, but are not willing to sacrifice our life to Him.

Being born and raised in church or even being the son, daughter, or family member of a pastor, you tend to think you can live the way you want and God will continue to bless you. We chase after the material things, but not the relationship.

The bible declares, “Better is the poor that walketh in His uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.” (Proverbs 28:6 KJV) So many people have almost everything in the world, but truthfully, are they happy? Do they know Christ and the ways of God? Sometimes people will give more attention to things that are of the world than of God.

We have to understand that God is a jealous God and He will not have no other god before Him. When we put money, houses, cars, clothes, jobs, people, and fame before God it will keep us from where we really need to be – and that’s in the face of God.

I remember when I started to put things before God. Do you know God has a way of grabbing your attention? I felt like I was walking into my new career and I just had a lot going for myself. I started slacking off from going to church and going away from my normal habits even though I was seeking God face.

In 2010 I hurt myself and needed knee surgery. For three months I laid on my back. It was crazy! My emotions were jacked up because I am used to running all the time! Now, I finally had time to sit still. In that moment God spoke to me like never before. I found myself crying and being so open. God was saying, “Son, I didn’t make you like everybody else. I didn’t make you so that you could use your temple to go against everything I stand for. But, I created you for a purpose.”

We have to realize there is peace in walking in your purpose.

What do you crave today? Is it money, power, or fame? What you are after? Whatever it is, nothing will be granted unless you walk with God. There is nothing wrong with wanting better, but not on our own accord.

Seek God first and all other things shall be added you. (Matthew 6:33 KJV)
