It’s sad to see that there is still a stigma attached to interracial dating. We don’t have to look any further than the backlash against Tamera Mowery and her white husband to realize that. Married couple Bianca and Michael Alexander, of Conscious Planet Media, talked about their documentary on interracial marriage and their hopes to dispel some deep-seated stigmas around such unions on “NewsOne Now” this morning,
Bianca says the worst vitriol comes from black men when she and her husband are in public, but it is an issue that affects both Black and White people.
“Unfortunately because the U.S. government has not formally come out and said, ‘This is wrong,’ and we need to, perhaps, repair the damage that was created, I think that we carry it emotionally as human beings,” Bianca said. “When the topic comes up, it brings all that charge to the forefront, and you see some ugly sides to people you wouldn’t have expected.”
