President Barack Obama is slated to travel to Roseburg, Oregon on Friday to meet with families of the Umpqua Community College shooting victims. Nine people lost their lives and nine people suffered injuries after 26-year-old gunman Chris Harper Mercer opened fire at the school last week. Mercer reportedly committed suicide following the shooting. After the incident, Obama addressed his concerns with gun laws in our country. “We’ve become numb to this,” he said. “Our thoughts and prayers are not enough. It’s not enough — it does not capture the heartache and grief and anger that we should feel, and it does nothing to prevent this carnage from being inflicted some place else in America next week or a couple months from now.” Read more.


Bill Cosby Accuser to File Civil Lawsuit

Another woman accusing Bill Cosby of sexual misconduct is gearing up to file a civil lawsuit against the comedian. Chloe Goins, 24, claims that Cosby drugged and raped her at a Playboy Mansion party seven years ago. Her allegations could possibly be brought to civil court since it’s within the statute of limitations. Cosby is denying the charges. Goins is one of nearly 50 women who have come forward with claims that they were sexually assaulted by Cosby. Read more.


Missy Elliott Sued for $75K

Missy Elliott and her team are being sued for $75,000 by people in Brazil for being a no-show at two concerts and a TV appearance three years ago. Promoter Jean Faustian filed papers in Manhattan Supreme Court claiming that she gave Missy a deposit for the appearances, but she never showed up. “We love Missy but her staff …. we don’t know what happened,” said Carlos Carvajal, Jean Faustian’s lawyer. #LaughingWhileBlack Women Make First TV Appearance on ‘The Real’

The women who sparked the hashtag #LaughingWhileBlack after being booted off a Napa Valley wine tour train for allegedly being disruptive have landed their first television interview. The ladies, who are members of a book club called Sistahs on the Reading Edge, appeared on The Real to share their experience. “What we want people to learn is to just be careful of your biases of other people and how you view a group of people when you’re around them. And how you use your power, if you’re in a position of power to make decisions that will then render and how it will affect other people’s lives that’s what we want. We want this not to happen again,” said Alisa Carr, one of the members. Read more.
