Prodigy Youth Services 501(c)3 sponsors the S.W.A.G.G. Academy

The S.W.A.G.G. (Success and Wisdom Awaiting Good Girls) Academy, a multimedia program specifically designed to help build esteem and character in young girls while tapping into their gifts, is offering a winter session during the Holiday break. The program has most of the elements of a traditional camp, but includes an intense media arts component. The participants can expect to write, blog, create podcasts and produce videos. S.W.A.G.G. seeks to engage girls, ages 8-14, with thought-provoking discussions and activities which will prepare them for leadership roles in school, church, and extracurricular activities. With a panel of experts, speakers, and mentors to lead an open dialogue, the program hopes to leave an ever-lasting impact on the young ladies in the Academy.

The four-day enrichment program will be held from December 27-30, 2010 at Empowerment Temple Family Life Center in West Baltimore. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for participants.

Local poet and author, Sheri Booker and educator Chanta Booker developed S.W.A.G.G. S. Booker’s memoir will be published by Gotham Books (The Penguin Group) in 2011. She has worked on multimedia projects similar to this in rural South Africa.
