Rapper Dee-1 talked with Erica Campbell and GRIFF about his album, “Slingshot David.” He explains that he is extra connected to this album because, “this is my life story I’m telling on this album.” He explains why he named it “Slingshot David,” citing the story of David and Goliath. He talks about figuring out how to defeat the Goliath in our life by figuring out what our slingshot is. “Your slingshot is your gift, your passion or your talent,” he says, “and mine is hip-hop.”
Dee-1 also talks about how touring the country as a speaker, and how his background as a middle school teacher makes him good with audiences. He talks about his activism, and how his boldness and confidence allows him to go into any space and speak about faith,. He says that our faith should cultivate a confidence in us that allows us to do so.
